Saints upset Colts in Super Bowl XLIV
Can’t win ‘em all right? I just wish the Colts had picked a different time to play a mediocre game on both sides of the ball.
With this victory the Saints proved that they deserved to be there, there’s no doubt about that. The Saints were huge underdogs going into this contest, and once the made it through the first quarter they played loose, they played fast, and they played aggressive — they played like the Colts should have, and it won them the game.
It was over when: the Saints converted the onside kick to begin the second half. They rallied behind the momentum shift and rode it all the way to a Super Bowl victory. I can’t overstate how monumentally important it was for the Saints to get the ball back after that gutsy move.
All in all the Saints played better for 60 minutes, and that’s all you can really say about it. We could over-analyze every little nuance of the game, but that would be a waste of time. Obviously we didn’t want the Colts to lose the game, but there’s really no other team in this league aside from the Giants that I would like to have seen win a Super Bowl than them. There are no bad feelings or qualms towards that team or organization. The Colts just need to focus on getting better and making it back to the promised land next year. It’s going to be a very long offseason no doubt, so just do whatever it is you do to cope with this huge disappoint and let’s get stronger from it. It’s not the end of the world.
Congratulations New Orleans, enjoy it.
