About
There’s always a lot of talk about the 12th man. Luckily for the Colts, they have the 12th Horseman.
12th Horseman is a blog dedicated to the Indianapolis Colts, and by extension the NFL in general. Our purpose is to entertain and inform. We don’t have corporate agendas to adhere to (yet), nor are we shackled by the Colts organization (yet) or the NFL (never). The reason this site exists is because of a few die hard Colts fans who decided they would take a little of time out of their lives every day for your entertainment. And while we try our best to be as objective as possible, please keep in mind that this is a Colts blog, therefore we’re inherently biased, deal with it.
Also, the Patriots suck.

And yeah, he’s an internet Reverend, thus super holy. |
| Derek Schultz | Featured Writer Derek has spent almost seven years in the Indianapolis sports radio market, and has been with XL 950 since 2005 when it was still the ESPN affiliate in town. He has been the solo host of the afternoon-drive show “The Zone” since May of 2009, after previously co-hosting the show with Greg Rakestraw. He’s also hosted shows such as the “Xtra Large Lunch”, “The Rock Bottom NFL Pregame Show”, “Indy College Gameday”, and is still the host of the station’s weekly High School football program “High School Friday Night” each fall. During his tenure at 950, he has covered everything from The Brawl to Lawrence North’s basketball dynasty to the tire fiasco at the ‘08 Brickyard 400. He is a graduate of Indiana University, where he was a member of WIUS (now WIUX, an FM station) – the student-run radio station – for all four years of college, and did various play-by-play including football and men’s/women’s basketball. He also co-hosted two shows, and was the solo host of the “Thursday Night Sports Happy Hour” his junior year. Derek is a Connecticut native, from the lovely suburban town of Trumbull, better known as home of the 1989 Little League World Champions and Kevin Nealon’s parents. Derek is an avid New York Giants, Knicks, and Yankees fan to this day, and does not have any sort of emotional involvement with any other pro teams. He enjoys trashy reality TV and triple-decker club sandwiches. Since dressing up as Marv Albert for Career Day as a 4th grader, Derek has wanted to be a broadcaster. He considers himself very lucky to be doing the three things he loves most: talking, writing, and arguing about sports. |
